Participation Programmes Manager, HISTORIC ENGLAND

Location: York, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cambridge, Swindon, Bristol, or Portsmouth (hybrid working available).

Salary: £39,590 (National) / £42,624 (Greater London), full-time permanent contract.

About the role

This role will support colleagues and Historic England’s partners to deliver participatory activity that encourages more people to engage with the historic environment. Working with the Head of Participation Programmes, you will create exciting programmes of activity that help people connect to and act for the historic environment, contributing to their overall wellbeing, social impact, and supporting our commitment to inclusion and diversity. The role will also build skills and capacity within the organisation to embed participation in our processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver participatory programmes in a heritage, arts, or cultural setting.
• Develop partnerships and manage stakeholders.
• Apply community-led and inclusive practice.
• Manage programmes, budgets, and project assurance.
• Use evaluation, research, and evidence to assess programme effectiveness, demonstrate impact, and support continuous improvement.
