About the role

Historic England is the public organisation dedicated to bringing new life to heritage to enhance the future for every place and everyone. This role involves managing the Heritage Gateway, the central repository for England's historic environment data.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain data submission and agreements with national and local dataset providers for the new Heritage Gateway
  • Act as a communication bridge between data resource providers and Historic England's technical teams
  • Work with Digital Engagement colleagues to support ongoing development of the website, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with stakeholder and business needs
  • Collaborate across Historic England departments and with external partners to facilitate an effective exchange of information, guidance, and advice

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the historic environment
  • Experience of developing and providing online content and services
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Project management experience

Qualifications

The role requires a strong understanding of the historic environment and relevant experience in developing and managing online content and services. Project management skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.

Schedule

The role is full-time and permanent, with the option for hybrid working. The location is either York, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cambridge, Swindon, Bristol, or Portsmouth, inclusive.
