Responsibilities
- Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate and treat patients experiencing psychological, emotional, or substance use issues.
- Actively participates in treatment planning, discharge, transition, and after-care processes.
- Provides family therapy sessions as needed to support continuity of care and reduce barriers to treatment.
- Supports with patient vitals and urine drug screening (UDS) as needed.
- Communicates proactively with patients, families, and referral sources in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Collaborates consistently with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, UR, and nursing staff.
- Supports UR team functions and provides treatment updates or documentation for authorizations.
- Completes required clinical paperwork including psychosocial assessments, Columbia Suicide Risk Scale, and progress notes.
- Responds appropriately to patient crises and participates in de-escalation procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of confidentiality, HIPAA, and clinical regulations (TJC, CARF, Medicaid, etc.).
- Assists care coordination with discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Completes all documentation thoroughly, accurately, and within facility timelines.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility, with direct experience working with adolescents, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, and psychiatric patients preferred.
- CPR and De-escalation certification required or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Current clinical or social work license as required by state regulations.
