Job Description And Position Requirements

Penn State Hazleton Continuing Education is seeking applicants to serve as a Counselor for various youth programs on Penn State Hazleton's Campus.

  • Primary task: Assist the Instructor with daily functions to ensure each participant receives a quality and enjoyable learning experience.
  • Reports to: Interim Regional Lead for Continuing Education at Penn State Scranton and staff as designated at the Penn State Hazleton Campus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to participant safety.
  • Be available to provide assistance in the classroom.
  • Provide feedback.

Requirements

  • Participation in Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Successful completion of background checks including the Child Abuse Training Certificate.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Skills

  • Attention to detail.
  • Communication skills.
  • Safety awareness.

  • Position pays $13/hour.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
