About the Role
We are seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound care services to patients residing in long-term care facilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide wound care services for long-term care patients in skilled nursing facilities.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with Arkansas law.
- Order, review, and follow up on treatments and diagnostic testing.
- Communicate regularly and as needed with nursing home staff regarding changes in patient condition and care plans.
- Collaborate with the primary care physician.
- Diagnose and treat diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds, as well as Kennedy Ulcers.
- Stage pressure injuries according to the NPIAP guidelines.
- Utilize wound care best practices and advanced wound care products (e.g., collagens, alginates, foams, silvers).
- Manage wound vacs and other durable medical equipment (DME), such as pressure-relieving or reducing devices.
- Work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
- Use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Arkansas.
- Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- DEA licensure (optional).
- Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
- Experience in wound care, including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds.
- Familiarity with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products.
- Experience with wound vacs and other DME.
- Strong preference for candidates with wound certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience working in a long-term care setting.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary care team.
