Part Time Wound Care Nurse Practitioner

About the Role

CareMed Group is a facility-based team of medical providers delivering medical services to patients in long-term care facilities. As a Wound Care Nurse Practitioner, you will provide wound and primary care services to residents, collaborating with nursing home staff and primary care physicians to improve the wellbeing of the elderly population.

Responsibilities

• Provide wound care and primary services for long-term care patients in skilled nursing facilities.
• Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with Ohio law.
• Order, review, and follow up on treatments and diagnostic testing.
• Communicate regularly with nursing home staff regarding changes in patient condition or care plans.
• Collaborate with primary care physicians and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Ohio.
• Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
• DEA licensure (optional).
• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
• Experience in wound care, including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds.
• Comfort diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
• Ability to stage pressure injuries according to the NPIAP.
• Familiarity with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products (e.g., collagens, alginates, foams, silvers).
• Experience with wound vacs and other durable medical equipment (DME), such as pressure-relieving/reducing devices.
• Strong preference for wound certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience working in a long-term care setting.
• Ability to work with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Basic coding knowledge preferred but not required.
