Part Time Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional- South Elementary

About the role

South Elementary School is seeking a Part Time Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional and Lunch Monitor to work 22.5 hours a week. This position will remain open until filled. The Wellness Room Monitor Paraprofessional is under the direction of the school principal, working with the Special Education Educator, School Counselor, and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), to assist and monitor students who choose to visit the Wellness Room to reset, calm down, and/or refocus.

Responsibilities

• Establishes effective rapport with students, listens, supports and directs them to additional help when needed
• Develops and maintains professional relations with other staff
• Monitors students that choose to enter the Wellness Room for support and helps them to reset and return to class
• Intakes students as they come into the room and triages the situation to get additional support for the student if needed
• Teaches self-regulation skills to students
• Helps students to reset and return to the classroom in order to continue learning
• Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for Wellness Room management
• Helps students and school staff understand the procedures of the Wellness Room
• Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the Wellness Room and all materials within the room
• Assists in the purchase and replacement of materials as needed
• Maintains appropriate records using Educators Handbook and other school-based record keeping requirements
• Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students
• Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.

Requirements

• Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
• Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs, and check email frequently
• Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed

Schedule

22.5 hours a week, part time.
