Part-Time Vocal Arts / Choir Teacher (with possibility of full time)

Responsibilities

• Teaching vocal music in the morning
• Preparing students for performances and competitions
• Supporting music ministry for school liturgies
• Two semesters of Co-ed Honors Choir class (including performances and competitions)
• One semester of AP Music Theory
• Liturgical Choir (including one after-school rehearsal per week and music ministry for all school Masses)
• Advanced Audition Choir (including two after-school rehearsals per week, competitions, and performances)
• Collaboration with Marian’s Performing Arts team to continue building a dynamic, student-centered vocal arts program

Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• A Michigan teaching certificate and appropriate endorsement to teach high school vocal music/choir preferred
• At least two years of experience teaching high school choir
• Experience directing vocal ensembles and preparing students for public performances
• Knowledge of vocal pedagogy, music theory, repertoire selection, and performance preparation
• Comfort supporting sacred music and Catholic school liturgies
• Strong classroom management and student relationship-building skills
• An engaging, positive, and collaborative teaching style
• A desire to contribute creatively to Marian’s growing Performing Arts program
