Part-Time Veterinary Assistant

About the role

The Department of General Practice at Lakeside Animal Hospital (NC) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. This position involves assisting Veterinarians in providing comprehensive care to animals, including restraining animals during examinations, obtaining and reading lab samples, stocking and cleaning examination and surgery rooms, and sterilizing tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary.
• Obtain and read lab samples.
• Stock and clean examination and surgery rooms with supplies.
• Sterilize tools and ensure equipment is in working order.
• Communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.

• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, healthy and positive communication skills, and the ability to multi-task in a hands-on environment.
• Energetic people-and-pet person with excellent work ethic and social and organizational skills.
• Compassionate/caring.
• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
• Can work individually, as well as on a team.
• Self-starter personality that can complete daily tasks without the need for constant direction.

Skills, Knowledge, & Expertise

• Prior customer service experience.
• Able to lift 40 lbs.
