About the role
At Hershey’s Chocolate World—the most popular brand experience in the world—nearly four million guests visit our Hershey, Pennsylvania location every year. The Utility Grounds Attendant works within the Utility Department to maintain the general appearance and sanitation of the exterior of the facility, ensuring an extraordinary guest experience through exceptional customer service.
This is a part-time, seasonal position located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The company will not provide relocation assistance or other employment benefits for this position. Shifts are primarily weekday and weekend mornings, including holidays, with start times as early as 5 AM. During non-peak seasons, weekday daytime shifts are limited.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate Hershey’s Customer Service Pledge: be approachable, prioritize guests, initiate courteous contact, listen to guest needs, and thank every guest genuinely.
- Ensure facility sanitation meets Hershey’s Chocolate World’s high-quality standards.
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, trash removal, snow removal, window cleaning, leaf blowing, pressure washing, and other assigned duties.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of public walkways, grounds, and parking lots.
- Observe and report sanitation problems inside and outside the building.
- Operate a motor vehicle (company vehicle) and follow all cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Neat appearance and ability to meet uniform standards.
- Customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills; general retail knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to walk or stand for 5–8 hours.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry 25–50 lbs; push or pull 100–200 lbs.
- Requires bending, stooping, and twisting; constant repetitive motion of hands, fingers, and wrists.
- Ability to work independently, communicate effectively with guests and coworkers, and function as part of a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, wind, and snow.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
- Custodial experience preferred but not required.
Pay
Starting hourly rate of $16.00 or more based on relevant experience.
Schedule
- Part-time, seasonal position.
- Weekday and weekend morning shifts, including holidays.
- Start times as early as 5 AM.
- Limited weekday daytime shifts during non-peak seasons.
