Part-Time Theatre Technician/Media Specialist II
About the role
The Theatre Technician/Media Specialist II is responsible for technical aspects of events held in Brightpoint Community College’s Lynn Theatre, located on the Midlothian campus. They will assist in booking and scheduling events, and ensure a high standard of hospitality in communicating with renters, performers, patrons, and visiting artists. They will supervise student workers in areas such as Auditorium, Scene Shop, Lighting, Front of House, Sound, and Props.
Responsibilities
- Assist in booking and scheduling events
- Ensure a high standard of hospitality in communication with renters, performers, patrons, and visiting artists
- Supervise student workers in the areas of Auditorium, Scene Shop, Lighting, Front of House, Sound, and Props
- Assign students to work when the theatre is in use for productions and rehearsals
- Reports directly to the Department Chair for Performing Arts
Requirements
- Work experience as a Theater Technician in one or more areas
- Knowledge of theatre management and equipment used for lighting, scenic design, sound design, and costume design
- Supervisory skills and effective communication with leadership, colleagues, internal clients, faculty, staff, and students
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and as a member of a team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre in Lighting, Stage Management, Sound, Scenic, or Costume Design

- Operate a State Vehicle

$16.00- $20.00 Hourly
Schedule
This is a part-time position and will work up to 29 hours a week that include evenings, and weekends.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
