Serves as legal counsel
Serves as legal counsel representing the legal interests of the County for assigned departments; provides legal advice to represented clients and other department heads, elected officials and managers as requested or assigned under the direction of the County Attorney.
Essential Functions
- Negotiates, drafts and reviews contracts;
- Analyzes terms and conditions to ensure County’s interests are protected against potential liability;
- Resolves contract disputes;
- Reviews contracts for compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal laws.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree required;
- Plus a minimum of three years’ experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts, including some experience in local government transactions and contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in IT contracts, particularly local government IT contracts, including cyber security issues.
Physical Abilities
- Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Environmental Factors
- Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
