Part-Time Team Member I

About the role

Welcomes customers, answers their questions, helps them locate items, and provides advice or recommendations. Operates scanners, scales, cash registers, and other electronics. Maintains a clean workspace and ensures customer needs are met while resolving complaints.

Responsibilities

• Balance the cash register and generate reports for credit and debit sales.
• Accept payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate, and provide receipts to customers.
• Process refunds and exchanges.
• Bag or wrap purchases to ensure safe transport.
• Follow all store procedures regarding coupons, gift cards, or the purchase of specific items (e.g., tobacco, alcohol).
• Count the contents of the cash register drawer at the end of each shift, maintaining receipts, records, and withdrawals.
• Verify the ID of any person under the age of 30 prior to tobacco and/or alcohol sales.
• Operate the cash register with accuracy and efficiency.
• Complete Class C Certification and know procedures for fuel spills.
• Sell gasoline, cigarettes, beverages, food, and other miscellaneous items.
• Provide excellent customer service, resolve complaints, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Receive cash, checks, or complete credit-card transactions per operating policy.
• Count money, verify amounts, and issue receipts with correct change.
• Maintain store cleanliness and appearance to company standards.
• Restock shelves and coolers.
• Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the store during the working shift.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months to one year of experience in a related area preferred.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Reliable transportation and a working telephone.
• Must apply reasonable judgment and understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
• Ability to operate a cash register with accuracy and efficiency.

Schedule

Days and hours of operation are dependent on location and may include some minor and major holidays. Availability and schedule are to be discussed and determined with the hiring manager prior to the start date.
