The STEM Head Teacher position is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt post. This role reports directly to the Director of Programs.

Your Role in a Nutshell
- Create a nurturing and engaging environment for the students to grow and learn.
- Deliver engaging, fun, hands-on STEM activities at local elementary schools in the afterschool and summer setting.
- Instill the 6 C's: Curious, Committed, Confident, Careful, Creative, and Changemakers mindset in your students.
- Adapt teaching to suit individual student needs.
- Promote social-emotional learning and embrace diversity.
- Supervise teaching assistants and volunteers and the classroom.
- Communicate with families to keep them in the loop
- Promote SAfG events among various stakeholders
- Foster positive partnerships with site coordinators and school administrators.
- Lead with the assembly and transportation of STEM supplies
- Other Programmatic Support as needed: Attend meetings, training, and support program-related projects.
- Support the successful execution of Family STEAM Events by assisting with program logistics and implementation.
- Support program-related events, activities, STEM kitting and marketing.
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified candidate will possess a combination of the following education and/or equivalent experience:
- Mandatory Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable car.
- Be able to lift 40 lbs and transport STEM supplies to and from your classes.
- Educational Requirements:
- College-level coursework, professional training, or experience in one or more of the following fields: education, early childhood education, museum education and/or a STEM field.
- Teaching Experience:
- Have at least one solid year of teaching experience in the classroom or out-of-school time space.
- Can connect with a wide range of students and create an inclusive environment. Experience working with BIPOC students in Title I Schools
- Have experience in emergent curriculum, project-based, or inquiry-based learning (a plus).
- Student Engagement and Support:
- Proven ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Strong classroom management skills that promote a safe and supportive learning space.
- Experience in developing strategies to uplift and motivate students.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Professional Development:
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Commitment to staying current with educational best practices and research.
