Purpose and Scope

The Part-time Specialist III, Student Services has in-depth knowledge of functions and processes throughout the scope of the specialty area. This position acts as a primary expert and provides advice and information to others. Ensures that all College and department policies and procedures surrounding assigned area are implemented/carried out correctly by others. Primarily performs specialized, specific functions requiring knowledge and experience in a particular field, area or department function. Typical duties may include information gathering and review, presentation of information in verbal or written form, some interpretation of information.

Essential Job Functions

  • Aids students in processes relating to registration and admissions including academic advising on course transferability
  • Provides advice and counsel in areas of expertise such as academic advising, financial aid, and student records
  • Informs and/or orients students in order to help them succeed in college setting
  • Advises high school students and parents on requirements for dual credit, admissions, and determines exceptional admission
  • Provides expertise to others in the processing of transcripts
  • Analyzes transfer coursework, accreditation, catalogs, and numbering/grading systems to affect and maintain the Degree Audit system files
  • Determines residency requirements
  • Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule And Conditions

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary

The hourly pay rate is $15.60.
