About the Role
Lone Star College-Houston North Greenspoint is a state-of-the-art, full-service location designed to serve the greater Greenspoint area. Its proximity to local businesses and public transportation makes it ideal for working and non-traditional students. The facility offers day, evening, and weekend credit courses, including university-transfer courses, certificates, computer/office skills, and developmental studies.
The PT Specialist III - Financial Aid is responsible for the timely completion of all financial aid applications, including FAFSA and scholarships, and documentation. This role assists with guidelines and documentation for satisfactory academic progress, informs students of their Financial Aid Application status, helps students complete all necessary processes to ensure disbursement of eligible funds, and identifies special circumstances that might qualify students for additional Financial Aid.
Responsibilities
- Assist students with the completion of all necessary documentation and processes.
- Analyze documentation submitted by students to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Record and scan documents received by the office to ensure the system office is aware and able to proceed in reviewing student accounts.
- Inform students of their Financial Aid Application status, including visiting classrooms to provide financial aid information.
- Assist with demographic corrections (e.g., date of birth, name, or social security number).
- Analyze fee charges for attendance.
- Prepare appeals for the committee.
- Identify any special circumstances a student might endure that could qualify them for additional Financial Aid.
- File and organize documents received by the office.
- Stay up to date with the latest Financial Aid upgrades, terms, and conditions to prepare for annual Financial Aid workshops offered by the institution.
- Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be in good standing with the Department of Education.

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (e.g., papers, books, or small parts), or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment. Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

Pay
Hourly pay rate is $15.92.
