Part Time Social Worker - Emergency Room

About the role

The Emergency Department Social Worker II is a Masters-prepared professional responsible for delivering expert social work services in the ED and hospital settings. The role involves assessing and placing involuntary holds when appropriate, partnering with medical staff, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including LPS law.

Responsibilities

• Conduct bio-psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans
• Manage psychiatric patient needs and coordinate interventions for patients and families
• Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling
• Assist with discharge planning, especially for homeless patients
• Participate in quality improvement activities
• Document all communications and interventions
• Train new staff as needed

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work
• Licensure in Social Work
• Knowledge of evidence-based interventions
• Strong communication skills
• Bilingual skills preferred
