Part-Time Social Media Editor
Responsibilities
- Packaging and publishing content for California Post social media accounts across various platforms.
- Create short-form vertical videos, memes, graphics, and other engagement-focused posts.
- Film, edit, and produce video content from live events, interviews, and in-house programming for social distribution, ensuring alignment with platform-specific best practices.
- Pitch and execute timely, newsworthy, and trending content ideas.
- Engage with audiences across California Post social channels, including moderating comments and facilitating meaningful interactions.
Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience managing social media for a news organization.
- Proven experience in multimedia content creation and social publishing across digital platforms.
- Proficiency in video and photo editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Canva, supported by a strong creative portfolio.
- Strong editorial judgment with excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
- Current knowledge of social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms, with the agility to adapt strategies to drive engagement.
- Hands-on experience managing large social media accounts with measurable success in audience growth and engagement.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, with strong multitasking and prioritization skills under tight deadlines.
- A passion for news, culture, and storytelling, with the creativity to translate those interests into compelling social content.
Benefits
Note: The shift schedule for this role is Saturday and Sunday, 6am-2pm PST. This role is open to remote candidates in California or New York. Please note that this is an engagement facilitated through a third-party vendor. While the role supports The New York Post, employment and payroll will be managed by the vendor.
Pay
Base Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

The shift schedule for this role is Saturday and Sunday, 6am-2pm PST.
