About the role
The Shuttle Bus Driver reports to the Transportation Manager within the Transportation Department. This non-exempt position requires demonstrated experience in passenger transport with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Follow proper procedures for driving required routes, including transporting students to college and non-college related functions as needed.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance (pre-check) inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and trouble-free operation, including cleaning assigned vehicles.
- Follow proper procedures for fueling vehicles and recording mileage and passenger reports.
- Maintain legible driver and vehicle records, including Vehicle Pre-Check List (Gas, Oil, Water, A/F and parts), pickup and transfer station records, and logs.
- Cover any area as needed at the discretion of the Transportation Manager.
- Assume other projects or assignments as determined by the Transportation Manager.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a clean, valid NYS CDL with a P endorsement; airbrake endorsement preferred.
- Knowledge of Transportation and Motor Vehicle law as it pertains to driver qualifications, bus operations, and traffic safety requirements and precautions.
- Ability to deal with difficult customer concerns while maintaining composure.
- Must meet the medical requirements set forth by NYS DOT/DMV for 19A certified drivers.
Physical Conditions and Demands
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (or more with assistance from another employee).
- Available to work various shifts with exposure to outdoor elements.
- Subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
Pay
Hourly wage: $18.75 – $19.13
