Responsibilities
- Performs tire inspections and minor repairs on buses and support vehicles
- Maintains records of tire inventory, recaps, scraps, and other logs as needed to ensure a ready supply of tires
- Observes facility safety practices relating to tire installation, use of personal safety devices and wheel dollies, chemicals, and tire filters, and follows environmental practices regarding proper handling and disposal of all waste streams
- This position requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Spotting Buses to Park in Parking lot
- Travel as required, between the Rockville and Silver Spring locations
- Work at both the Rockville and Silver Spring facilities as operational needs require
- Be available to work mandatory unscheduled overtime, including emergency call-ins, extended shifts, weekends, and holidays, based on departmental and operational needs
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Vocational training in automotive repair helpful
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Previous service lane technician experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason

- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions—100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
- Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise
