Part Time School Psychometrist (Alabama)

Position Summary

The Part-time School Psychometrist will support the special education evaluation process by preparing for, administering, scoring, documenting, and assisting with psychological and educational assessments under standard testing conditions and in alignment with required protocols. This role works closely with school personnel, case managers, and special education leadership to ensure evaluations are completed accurately, securely, and within IDEA-mandated timelines.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer psychological, educational, and/or social emotional behavioral in various formats using virtual tools.
• Explain testing procedures and objectives to students and work with students to support compliance with testing protocols and procedures to ensure appropriate test completion.
• Aid school personnel in administering and completing evaluations and other assessments required to determine student eligibility or collect data for IEP team purposes, as appropriate.
• Maintain records of testing supplies, instruments, and equipment on hand and order replacement stock as necessary.
• Perform basic interpretation of standardized tests of psychological functioning, as appropriate, and make recommendations to the attending case manager regarding the need for retesting, additional testing, or programming considerations.
• Ensure confidentiality of test results and recommendations and maintain the security of testing materials.

Requirements

• Certification in school psychometry from a state-approved program required; certification must meet Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) requirements.
• Must hold and maintain all required Alabama credentials, certifications, or authorizations necessary to administer psycho-educational assessments in accordance with ALSDE and program expectations.
• Minimum of two years of experience administering psycho-educational assessments, including individual intelligence tests, educational inventories, diagnostic instruments, and specialized testing for specific disability conditions.
• Experience supporting school-based evaluations, eligibility processes, and assessment administration; virtual assessment experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of standardized testing procedures, assessment protocols, test security, documentation requirements, and confidentiality expectations.
• Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite).
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Highly organized and punctual.
• Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during school day hours with a consistent weekly schedule and up to 30 hours as caseload requires.
