About the role
The School Psychologist provides individual psycho-educational evaluations focusing on social and emotional adjustment, intelligence, academic achievement, sensory and perceptual motor functioning, and environmental/cultural influences. They interpret evaluation results and recommend educational approaches and related services for students needing special programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual evaluations and assessments of students referred to Special Services
- Review and evaluate data, evaluations, and school records from other agencies
- Work within assigned schools and the school district to identify exceptional children
- Interpret educational criteria and regulations to determine eligibility for special programs
- Make referrals to outside agencies with administrative approval
- Communicate with parents and teachers about student issues
- Prepare and submit required reports on exceptional children, psychometric activities, and special education programs
- Coordinate with community agencies to deliver services to school district patrons
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree with a valid Oklahoma School Psychology certificate
- Background areas including psychology, education psychology, development, and/or education with extensive coursework in individual evaluation and assessment
