Part-Time Research Assistant (Harvatine Lab)
About the role
The Animal Nutritional Physiology research group at Penn State is seeking part-time research assistants. Potential tasks include supporting laboratory work, dairy nutrition experiments, or both, depending on the candidate's interests.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with and conducting laboratory assays, including colorimetric plasma assays, RNA and DNA extraction, and PCR analysis.
- Preparing samples for fatty acid analysis.
- Assisting with organizing materials for experiments.
- Assisting with feeding and collecting samples from dairy cows.
Requirements
Training will be provided. Hours are negotiable from 5 to 24 hours per week.
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in animal science, nutrition, or a related field. Experience with laboratory techniques and dairy cattle management is preferred.
Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently are required.

Hours and pay rates are negotiable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
