Job Summary

Delivers programs and events directly to the public, opens and closes facilities, assists with planning, gathering and organizing supplies/equipment, sets up, assigns duties, and takes down for programs and events. Performs cursory cleanup of the facility as needed, follows all City of Conroe and Center policies and procedures, and is responsible for the care and safety of participants.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver public programs and events.
  • Open and close the Oscar Johnson Jr Enrichment & Recreation Center after‑school program facilities.
  • Assist with planning, gathering, and organizing supplies and equipment.
  • Set up, assign duties, and take down for programs and events.
  • Perform cursory cleanup of the facility as needed.
  • Follow all City of Conroe and Center policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the care and safety of participants.

Qualifications

  • Experience in public program/event delivery and staff supervision.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of cash handling.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role.

Special Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Texas Class “C” driver’s license or higher.
  • Ability to obtain relevant certifications within the time period designated by the supervisor.
  • Compliance with City of Conroe direct‑deposit payroll policy.
  • Pass a background check and pre‑employment substance‑abuse screening.
  • May be required to undergo a motor vehicle record check and a job‑related doctor’s physical exam.
  • Safety‑sensitive positions are subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.

Physical Demands

The work is medium and requires the ability to exert up to 50 lb of force occasionally, up to 30 lb frequently, and up to 10 lb constantly to move objects. Required physical abilities include crouching, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
