Part-time Reading Specialist

About the Role

This is an anticipated part-time, 10-month position for the 2026-2027 school year. The role includes benefits and reports to a designated administrator.

Qualifications

• Valid NJDOE instructional certification and Reading Specialist certification
• Orton-Gillingham certification preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of research-based reading instruction, literacy development, dyslexia, and multisensory teaching strategies
• In-depth knowledge of evidence-based reading interventions, progress-monitoring practices, and the New Jersey Tiered System of Supports (NJTSS)
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate instructional practices
• Strong literacy-assessment, data-analysis, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized and small-group reading intervention plans
• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and families while maintaining a positive learning environment
• Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status
• Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70)

Pay

Starting salaries for the 2026-2027 school year:

• Step 1BA: $73,699
• Step 1MA: $81,804

This is a part-time role with compensation prorated based on hours worked in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The position is eligible for additional compensation in the form of stipends or tuition reimbursement based on district policy.
