About the role

The Caregiver plays an integral role in the success of our team, our community and creating a place our residents are proud to call home. The primary purpose of this position is to provide residents with routine daily care services in a caring and respectful manner in accordance with the assessment and service plan.

Responsibilities

  • Aid residents with activities of daily living (ADL) tasks, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and mobility.
  • Maintain resident dignity and respect and in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.
  • Communicate appropriate information (including incident reports information) and any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately.
  • Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
  • Encourage residents to socialize and participate in scheduled activities and outings and assist with those activities as needed.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all resident alerts, needs and/or requests for care, and provide assistance with care as needed.
  • Observe emotional condition of each resident, promptly reporting all changes to the nurse.
  • Follow and promote personal safety precautions and a safe environment for residents by observing infection control practices, following facility guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the nurse or management.
  • Check each resident per service schedule to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his/her wishes.
  • Ensure resident safety by assisting in the performance of fire or other safety drills.
  • Perform other essential job-related duties as assigned.

  • Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure resident privacy.
  • Knowledge/proficiency of facility EHR.

Education And Experience

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
  • Prioritize 6 months or more of experience in a home care, assisted living, or long-term care facility.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any direct reports or supervisory requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Tasks assigned to this position may involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Physical Activities: Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds; moving, lifting or transferring of residents may involve lifting up to 75 pounds. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift and carry to a height of 3 feet, push and pull to a distance of 5 feet. Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit and reach.
  • Cognitive Activities: Executes tasks independently. Ability to express yourself clearly and effectively verbally. Ability to concentrate on moderate details with frequent interruptions. Visual acuity. Hearing alertness.
  • Environmental Requirements: An individual in this position may be exposed to: Ambient room temperatures and lighting.
