About the role

Escalante Valley Elementary is seeking a Part-Time Preschool Special Education Paraprofessional to work 11 hours a week. This role works under the direction of the Special Education Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities.

The position requires lifting and supporting students, changing protective clothing, implementing behavior management plans, operating adaptive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs), and communicating effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up on learning activities (e.g., one-on-one help, directing small groups, playing with students, positive interaction).
• Assist in observing and recording behavior patterns and reinforce acceptable behavior using appropriate techniques.
• Support certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Assist with procedures related to physical and medical needs.
• Help students learn self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, personal cleanliness, diapering, feeding, and other self-help skills as needed.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of classroom management systems.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with others.
• Supervise students in all areas of the school.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.

Requirements

• Basic computer knowledge, familiarity with Google Docs, and ability to check email frequently.
• Willingness to learn and use all required computer systems and software.
