About the role

South Preschool is seeking a Part-Time Preschool Special Education Paraprofessional to work 11 hours a week (8:50 AM – 11:35 AM). The paraprofessional works under the direction of the Special Education Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activities (one-on-one help, small-group direction, positive interaction).
• Assist in observing and recording behavior patterns; implement techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
• Support certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
• Assist with procedures related to physical and medical needs.
• Help students learn self-care techniques, including toilet training, bathing, personal cleanliness, diapering, feeding, and other self-help skills as needed.
• Participate in developing, maintaining, and carrying out classroom-management systems.
• Guide students in working and interacting harmoniously with peers.
• Supervise students in all areas of the school.
• Operate adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.) and lift/support students.
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and job performance.

Requirements

• Basic computer knowledge; familiarity with Google Docs and frequent email checking.
• Willingness to learn and use all required computer systems and software.
