Part-Time Physical Science Lab Coordinator
Salary range: $15.30–$17.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-time, not to exceed 19.5 hours per week
About the role
The part-time Physical Science Lab Coordinator supports the physical science department by assisting with lab setup and coordinating lab schedules for all physical science labs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate weekly laboratory sessions for the Physical Science Department.
- Prepare lab materials and setups independently or in collaboration with work-study students.
- Maintain and organize laboratory spaces, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and ready for instruction.
- Operate, maintain, and support laboratory equipment and related technologies.
- Manage the ordering, receiving, inventory, and storage of lab supplies and equipment.
- Ensure proper care, calibration, maintenance, and safety of all departmental materials and instruments.
- Communicate effectively with faculty regarding equipment, chemicals, and lab organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Academic background in a science-related field (including various high school and college coursework).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain a dependable work schedule and uphold professional standards of punctuality and attendance.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in preparation of chemical solutions.
- Knowledge of scientific weights and measures.
- Experience in receiving and stocking.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of a computer keyboard.
