JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management Department (RPTM) is currently seeking a part-time data technician. This position consists mainly of weekends with some weekdays available, starting immediately.

  • Job Duties:
    • Conduct fact-to-face interviews
    • Conduct visitor counts at various locations in the Pinchot and Weiser State Forests

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations
  • Responsible individual with a polite, courteous, and friendly demeanor
  • Willingness and ability to drive long distances
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge and skill in written/oral communication
  • Ability to conduct interviews with recreation users
  • Cookordinate data collection with project supervisor on a daily basis

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Must be available to work weekends

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
