Part Time - Park Ranger
Duties & Responsibilities
- Affords security of the Town’s Parks and Recreation facilities including buildings, parks, and playgrounds.
- Maintains a safe, welcoming environment by monitoring municipal park areas and facilities.
- Identifies and reports vandalism, addresses disruptive behavior, and ensures compliance with park rules and municipal regulations.
- Responds to guest or staff accidents/injuries/complaints and completes necessary reports.
- Opens and closes facilities based on operating schedules and activities.
- Observes park areas and facilities for safety hazards, unusual conditions, or activities of concern, and takes appropriate action.
- Prepares daily reports as required.
- Provides general assistance to the public.
- Develops and maintains good public relations with the public and law enforcement officers.
- Assists with departmental activities and events as assigned.
- Safeguards equipment, including Town vehicles, ensuring they are in proper working condition.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Special Requirements, Education & Experience
- Knowledge of principles and practices of first aid and safety.
- Knowledge of standard resources, materials, and facilities utilized in a public recreation program.
- Knowledge of the application of information technology to assist with assigned duties.
- Skills in collaborative conflict resolution, customer service excellence, and problem-solving.
- Ability to express ideas effectively and communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment, including various software packages.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, citizens, employees, supervisors, participants, and partner associations.
- Ability to perform calmly and exercise sound judgment in stressful or emergency situations.
- Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Park Ranger certification, BLET certification is preferred.
- Experience in parks and recreation, law enforcement, or security is preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary Range
The actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity, and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position. The recruiting hourly rate is $20.00.
