About the role

The purpose of this position is to bridge the line of communication between the residents of this community and the City of Coral Gables Community Recreation Department by providing residents with a parks liaison whose mission is to ensure the cleanliness and safety of all City of Coral Gables parks.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, organizes and supervises daily work schedules, tasks, park routes, and objectives for all Parks Service Attendants.
  • Serves as an on-the-ground liaison for residents, park users, vendors, contractors and permitted birthday party rentals or events to ensure a positive park experience for all.
  • Captures and responds to resident inquiries, concerns and complaints.
  • Communicates routine park ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and practices to the general public.
  • Enforces routine park ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and practices including, but not limited to the viewing and verifying of photography and park/picnic rental permits.
  • Performs monthly inspections and safety audits of all parks, playgrounds and general park equipment.
  • Issues work orders and responds professionally and in a timely fashion to resident inquiries, concerns and complaints.
  • Performs general security of parks & grounds.
  • Tracks usage and daily activity of parks.
  • Performs tasks related to park maintenance: e.g. cleaning of restrooms/shelters/dugouts etc.; picking up and disposing of trash/litter; emptying of trash/litter receptacles and dog waste stations; maintaining athletic field areas; cleaning and maintaining sidewalks, concrete pads and parking surfaces.
  • Performs manual labor functions as directed by the Golf Course and Parks Maintenance Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
  • Receives and/or prepares various reports, work orders and other documents as required.
  • Responds to routine requests for information from supervisors, the general public or other individuals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) months of experience performing parks maintenance, park security and/or customer service duties required.
  • CPR/First Aide/AED certification required.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) preferred.

Qualifications

  • A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to enforce and communicate park rules and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report preparation.

Pay

Salary range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
