Farber Hebrew Day School’s Early Childhood Center, located in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking a paraprofessional to work closely with the classroom teacher.

Schedule

Part-time: Monday to Friday, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm

Responsibilities

  • Be an active member of the classroom, playing, interacting, and guiding the students
  • Participate in a rotating schedule for morning drop-off and dismissal duty
  • Model good behavior by demonstrating tasks rather than instructing
  • Discuss and support the behavior policies implemented by the classroom teacher
  • Accompany the class to and from special classes and remain with them during those times
  • Be pleasant and polite with parents; direct all child-related questions to the classroom teacher
  • Join the teacher during free play and small group time, assisting at the project table or interacting with children
  • Help children in small groups or individually
  • Support children during circle time, helping with focus or providing redirection
  • Clean tables after projects, snack, and lunch using warm water, soap, and bleach
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the easel area, including cleaning paint brushes
  • Ensure the classroom snack cabinet is stocked with snacks and paper goods (napkins, bowls, spoons, forks, cups, etc.)
  • Set up snack and juice
  • Track diapers, pull-ups, extra clothes, wipes, and notify parents when supplies are needed
  • Change children’s diapers and assist with bathroom needs
  • Assist children with coats, backpacks, and lunches at arrival; check backpacks for notes or supplies
  • Help and direct children in cleaning up
  • Participate in 16 hours of required professional development provided by Farber Hebrew Day School

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Two to three years’ experience working with young children
  • Early Childhood degree or CDA is a plus
