About the role

Paraprofessional (Part Time) position with Johnsburg School District 12, reporting to the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Director of Student Services. The role follows the educational year schedule, with 4‑5 hours per day on days when students are present, and includes 2 personal days, 11 sick days, and participation in the IMRF pension plan.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction and helping of individual student with special needs, or in small groups, as needed
• Assist and support teachers to organize learning experiences for student(s)
• Supervision of students during lunch, hallway and bathroom time
• Under teacher direction and guidance, assist in assessing student needs and progress
• Attend meetings as scheduled
• Attend offerings for professional growth
• Adhere to the district's expectations with regards to attendance and punctuality
• Promote a positive relationship with students, staff and community
• Help maintain an attractive and inviting classroom environment
• Perform any task or responsibilities which may be directed by the Teacher, Building Principal, or Student Services Director

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional License
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Respect confidentiality
• Must be able to use tact and diplomacy in human relations
