Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing clinical supervision to Registered Associate clinical providers (e.g., ASW, AMFT, APCC) or “practitioners” by providing ongoing clinical supervision and reviewing documentation.
  • Provide clinical supervision to employee practitioners in both individual, triadic, and group format.
  • Maintain supervision records and ensure timely signing of supervisee’s hours.
  • Maintain adherence to confidentiality and reporting laws, upholds HIPAA standards, and ensures awareness and prevention of Medi-Cal fraud, waste, and abuse.
  • Ensure supervisee’s meet all licensure, registration, and documentation requirements by reviewing and co-signing all required clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with Medi-Cal, Alameda County, and agency policies.
  • Participate in CQRT and other internal or county clinical review processes if requested.
  • Ensure client documentation is accurate and submitted within the established time frame.
  • Identify staff training needs and ensure development and implementation of programs that address needs, participate in delivering training sessions to meet the needs of staff related to clinical/program.
  • Oversee and review practitioners' work procedures and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Counsel, motivate, and discipline practitioners, and refer advanced issues to upper management.
  • Provide feedback as it relates to the evaluation process of the practitioners.
  • Assist practitioners by supervising complex cases.
  • Assist practitioners with the integration of diversity, equity and inclusion perspectives regarding the delivery of clinical services.
  • Perform crisis intervention and consultation as needed.
  • Attend meetings as requested to support clinicians or the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field plus a minimum of five years’ experience working in a community mental health program.
  • Licensure: The Licensed Outpatient Clinical Supervisor must maintain a current, unrestricted valid California License from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Experience: Must have at least two years of experience in community behavioral health setting working with Dual Diagnosis/Specialty Mental Health populations. Experience providing Medi-Cal services and working knowledge of CalAIM documentation standards, CQRT processes, and county behavioral health requirements. Experience providing constructive, timely feedback identifying strengths and areas of development to practitioners. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) systems. (e.g. Welligent, Credible, Epic) Participate in CQRT and have Medi-Cal SMHS experience.

Skills

  • Ability to utilize analysis, objectivity, and clinical judgement to make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity and ease working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma.
  • Seasoned clinician/administrator who is skillful at training, coaching, and mentoring multidisciplinary staff.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to a professional code of ethics.
  • Demonstrate ability to foster a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and clinical excellence.
  • Ensure supervisee’s meet all licensure, registration, and documentation requirements by reviewing and co-signing all required clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance with Medi-Cal, Alameda County, and agency policies.
  • Keep current with legal and regulatory requirements for clinical supervision.
  • Manual dexterity and communication: Requires the ability to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment; to talk and hear in person and by telephone; and to read printed and digital materials.
