Part-Time Onsite Medicaid Eligibility Representative

About the role

Hospital Referral Services (HRS) helps uninsured and underinsured patients navigate assistance programs, including Medicaid, at the bedside in the Emergency Room. The team screens patients, assists with applications, and supports recovery while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Employees have been recognized as Top Workplaces for five consecutive years.

Responsibilities

• Review hospital work queue or census to identify uninsured patients admitted to the Emergency Room.
• Screen/interview patients at bedside to determine possible eligibility for assistance programs including Medicaid and charity programs.
• Complete applications for Medicaid benefits and charity programs as needed.
• Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, hospital staff, and patients.
• Abide by HIPAA rules and regulations to protect patient privacy.
• Meet production goals and objectives assigned by hospital and management on a monthly basis.
• Maintain confidentiality of account information at all times.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to multitask and type minimum 40 WPM.
• Reliable transportation.
• Good attendance and dependability.
• Successful completion of drug and background test required.
• Annual flu shots and TB testing required.
• Availability to work some holidays.
