Part Time On-Call Security Officer – September 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM

About the Role

Part Time On-Call Security Officer position available. The officer must be available to work when called upon for assignments, including evenings, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis. This role involves vehicle and foot patrol duties on campus and campus properties.

Responsibilities

• Complete vehicle and foot patrols on campus and campus properties.
• Investigate and respond to civil disturbances, potential illegal activities, and suspicious circumstances; report to supervisor and local law enforcement.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
• Complete shift patrol logs and incident reports by the end of each shift.
• Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate individual or department after hours and on weekends.
• Lock and unlock designated buildings and gates as scheduled.
• Respond to alarms and dispatched calls; decide on appropriate actions based on the situation and position limitations.
• Multitask calls, radio activity, persons, and incidents.
• Maintain confidentiality for all incidents involving students, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Requires working evenings, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis.
• Subject to being called in for shift coverage.
• A minimum 30-minute paid meal period is provided in shifts exceeding five hours. When only one security officer is on duty, the officer may be required to perform duties during the meal period.

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
• Ability to walk and run.
• Ability to bend over, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous security or safety-related experience recommended but not required.
• Current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle record (a copy must be submitted with the application).
• Must successfully pass a background check.

Skills

• Ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, and weekends.

Pay

$17.00 per hour.
