Part Time On-Call Security Officer – August 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM

Non-exempt, part-time on-call position within the Safety & Security Department.

About the role

The Part-Time On-Call Security Officer must be available to work when requested by notice. Officers patrol campus properties on foot and by vehicle, investigate disturbances, respond to alarms, and report incidents to supervisors and local law enforcement.

Responsibilities

• Complete vehicle and foot patrols of campus and campus properties.
• Investigate and respond to civil disturbances, potential illegal activities, and suspicious circumstances.
• Report incidents to supervisor and local law enforcement.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
• Complete shift patrol logs and incident reports by the end of each shift.
• Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate individual or department after hours and on weekends.
• Lock and unlock designated buildings and gates as scheduled.
• Respond to alarms and dispatched calls; determine appropriate actions based on the situation.
• Multitask calls, radio activity, persons, and incidents simultaneously.
• Maintain confidentiality for all incidents involving students, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

• Evenings, holidays, and weekends on a rotating basis; subject to being called in for shift coverage.
• A minimum 30-minute paid meal period is provided in shifts exceeding five hours; may still be required to perform duties during the meal period if the only officer on duty.

Physical Demands

• Sit and stand for long periods.
• Walk and run as needed.
• Bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Current, valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle record (copy must be submitted with application).
• Must successfully pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Previous security or safety-related experience recommended but not required.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle rotating shifts, nights, and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Pay

$17.00 per hour.
