Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality occupational therapy services for students in individual and group settings, as mandated by their Individualized Education Service Programs/Individualized Education Programs (IESP/IEP).
  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills.
  • Create and execute evidence-based treatment plans utilizing sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.
  • Adjust and modify classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive devices to improve student participation and independence.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
  • Offer guidance and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment usage, and sensory strategies.
  • Document all services, progress, and outcomes per DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.
  • Participate actively in IESP/IEP meetings, providing expert occupational therapy insights and evidence-based recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Current valid NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
  • NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) certification.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in school-based or pediatric settings.
  • Competency in electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.
  • NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to complete before start.

Schedule & Location

This part-time, school-day or after-school position follows a school day schedule aligned with the NYC DOE calendar. You will provide services on-site at schools in the Manhattan area, with placements based on student needs. Hours per week are determined by IESP/IEP mandates; caseload may vary by assignment. Generally ~5-15 hours/week, depending on placements.

Pay

$75/hr (1099)
