Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate individual health care and education to Deerfield students and employees.
- Follow written and/or verbal orders per the Health Center Physician (MD) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) as per nursing standard of practice.
- Triage injuries, active management of sports injuries, assessment and treatment of both outpatients and inpatients, and psychotropic medications administration.
- Independently recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate intervention and treatment, sending the student to the hospital as appropriate and calling for extra help as needed.
- Maintain a high level of nursing care, following professional nursing standards and abiding by the Health Center’s policies, procedures and Standing Orders with emphasis on clinical safety, quality and effective communication.
- Provide a professional, compassionate approach towards all students, their families, employees, and all others involved with the health and well-being of the students.
- Comply with all HIPAA policies and regulations.
- Document thoroughly and appropriately in the Health Center’s electronic medical record system.
- Draw blood, calls in prescriptions, dispense medications, administer immunizations and perform other medical procedures and tests as deemed necessary, and as ordered by the MD/NP.
Job Specifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, from an accredited school.
- 1 - 3 years clinical nursing experience, preferably with adolescents in a health care setting.
- Valid Massachusetts RN license.
- CURRENT BLS certification.

- Able to use a computer, MS Office suite, and EHR system.

Physical Demands
- Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal and reports.
- Frequent bending and lifting.
- Occasional exposure to biohazardous materials and body waste.
