PART-TIME NIGHT CUSTODIAN 3:30 - 7:30 PM. $18.60/HOUR

About the role

Perform essential cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment in school buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Empty waste baskets daily and pencil sharpeners as needed.
• Clean all chalkboards and dry erase boards daily.
• Dust window sills, counter tops, and other surfaces.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
• Move furniture for cleaning as needed and return neatly.
• Clean doors, walls, windows, and attached hardware daily.
• Remove graffiti as needed.
• Clean and disinfect washroom and locker room floors, sinks, toilets, urinals, and attached plumbing fixtures as needed.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment; request replacements in advance to avoid hindrance in duties.
• Keep school building premises, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, lawn areas, roof, and play areas safe and clean.
• Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.
• Assume responsibility for closing the building, ensuring all doors and windows are secured, and lights are turned off (except those left on for security).
• Report any damage to school property immediately to the Head Custodian, Assistant Director, or building administrator(s).
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities.
• Keep up and comply with District energy savings programs.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian, Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, or the building principal.

• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Working Conditions

All Custodial employees are employed under the Downers Grove Custodial Maintenance (DGCMA) contract.
