Part-Time Newscast Director

About the role

The Part-Time Newscast Director at WIVB-TV News 4 coordinates technical operations for live and recorded broadcasts, ensuring smooth execution of newscasts and other productions.

Responsibilities

• Direct live newscasts and other recorded productions
• Coordinate the work of technical operators during broadcasts
• Collaborate with producers to deliver polished, accurate newscasts
• Operate broadcast audio and video systems in accordance with station policies and procedures
• Manage on-air elements including video, graphics, audio, recording, and playback
• Schedule: 20–25 hours per week, including weekend mornings

Qualifications

• Experience with Grass Valley Ignite, ROSS XPression, ENPS, and Vitec robotic camera systems a plus
• Strong ability to stay composed and make decisions in high-pressure situations
• Degree in Communications or a related field, or equivalent training and/or experience
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to work effectively with anchors, video journalists, videographers, production staff, engineering, and newsroom leadership
• Experience in television, film, or post-production preferred
• Working knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365
