Part Time Music Director

Organization: Gilead Presbyterian Church, Carmel, NY

Part-time position for a Music Director to lead our small but devoted and enthusiastic choir, as well as provide additional music for Sunday morning services.

About the role

The Music Director oversees all aspects of the church's music ministry, supporting and enhancing worship through music leadership.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Pastor to select appropriate liturgical music in alignment with the church calendar and worship themes
• Plan, schedule, and direct rehearsals and musical performances
• Lead and direct the choir, fostering participation and spiritual growth among members
• Provide musical accompaniments by playing piano and organ for Sunday worship services
• Utilize musical gifts of persons in the congregation, encouraging their participation and incorporating their proficiency with varied instruments when appropriate
• Play/provide music for special services and events, including holidays and other church observances
• Attend Worship Committee meetings
• Maintain the church's orderly collection of music
• Contribute a brief written update for the church's newsletter, monthly
• Coordinate piano tuning and organ servicing
• Other duties as needed
