Part-Time Multimedia Instructor (Pool)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay

Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Initial placement can range as follows:

• Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB): $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour
• Lecture Course (Salary Schedule HC): $103.85 up to $151.07 per hour

Months Per Year: Semester assignments as needed

Responsibilities

• Teach college courses in multimedia and/or web design
• Assist in curriculum revisions and new course development
• Consult with students during office and lab hours
• Maintain expertise in current technologies
• Perform other professional duties as required by contract and institutional needs

Requirements

• Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience
• Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree and must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment
• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Membership in a discipline-related professional association
• Two years' experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution

• Degree Equivalence: Possession of a degree(s) with similar content to those listed for the relevant discipline

• Professional Achievement Equivalence: Evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field, including preparation, teaching experience, work experience, publications, portfolios, speaking engagements, and ability

Skills

• Skill in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g., Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Proficiency in web technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS, JavaScript) and hand-coding web pages
• Experience with traditional graphic design and multimedia applications
• Industry experience in a design studio or freelancing
• Preparation to teach college-level courses in multimedia
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and various internet browsers
• Ability to ensure consistent and appropriate assessment of student progress
• Commitment to the teaching profession, its goals, and ideals
• Enthusiasm for, understanding of, and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college
• Ability to motivate students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
