About the role
A Part-time Medication Aide administers medications, performs treatments, and assists residents with daily activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Set up, pass, and manage medications following policies and procedures.
- Perform narcotic counts and order medications from the pharmacy.
- Document resident changes, medical orders, and ensure proper filing of lab work, physician, and medication orders.
- Assist with resident care, including grooming, toileting, and activities of daily living while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.
- Respond to call lights, monitor resident safety, and provide compassionate assistance, including fall response and escorting residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff; participate in training and meetings.
- Promote a positive environment and support meal service.
- Clean and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
- May assume shift leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Medication administration and CPR/First Aid certifications required per state regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and ability to work independently and under stress.
- Physical ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds, assist residents over 100 pounds with help, and perform physical tasks like stooping and reaching.
