About the role

This is a professional health care position that performs testing on human body fluids such as blood, urine, and sputum in a CLIA certified laboratory. This position will perform testing on specimens from SCHD and outside clinics to assist in controlling the spread of disease and identifying chronic conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate to high complexity testing in a laboratory setting.
  • Report testing results to clinic staff in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Follow Quality Control requirements and procedures.
  • Participate in the lab’s proficiency testing program per CLIA guidelines to confirm testing competency.
  • Actively participate in all laboratory quality improvement activities.
  • Accurately identify all specimens.
  • Ensure lab requisitions are completed, correct, and match the specimen.
  • Prepare and aliquot specimens for testing and/or send out.
  • Compile and print all worksheets required for testing.
  • Follow maintenance schedules for testing instrumentation.
  • Document all maintenance actions.
  • Troubleshoot any testing issues and follow up with manufacturer as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology. Certified through ASCP or equivalent as a Registered Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within 6 months of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Four years of experience in a related field. Current certification through ASCP or equivalent as a Registered Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist.

Qualifications

  • Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment.

  • Proficiency with medical laboratory equipment and software.
