About the Role
BAART Programs is seeking a Part-Time Medical Director to provide professional physician services and perform required administrative duties at our Bennington, VT clinic. The Medical Director ensures staff adherence to Universal Precautions and emergency medical procedures, supervises medical services, and authorizes dispensing of narcotic replacement therapy and other medications in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional physician services under minimal supervision.
- Educate patients and counselors on prescribed medications and potential side effects.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients.
- Communicate with outside medical practitioners regarding narcotic replacement therapy, primary care programs, or specific patient issues.
- Ensure compliance with BAART Programs’ policies, publicly funded programs, HMO contract protocols, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct quarterly peer reviews according to BAART Programs’ policy.
- Maintain a valid professional license and comply with licensing requirements.
- Review discharges, dosing sheets, outside medical records, physical exams, treatment plans, and dose changes for patients receiving narcotic replacement therapy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Board Certified/Eligible in Addiction Medicine or Primary Care.
- At least 6 months of Addiction Medicine experience preferred (not required).
- Licensed in good standing to practice medicine as a physician in Vermont.
- Current and valid DEA registration; must never have had an application for DEA registration denied, revoked, or surrendered for cause.
- Medicaid/Medicare eligible.
- Drug rehabilitation training and knowledge.

- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient medical records, laboratory results, and demographic information.
- Proficiency in English, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong charting skills.
