Part Time Medical Billing Assistant

About the role

Eberle Eyecare is seeking a Medical Billing Assistant (Part-Time) to join their team in Anchorage, Alaska. The position offers a starting wage of $21.00-$24.00 per hour, depending on education and experience, with a potential increase after 30 days based on performance. Hours are flexible, with preferred hours being mornings and early afternoon, prior to 2:00 p.m., and 20-25 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for vision care services.
• Bill any outstanding balances to patients.
• Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, ensuring timely resolution.
• Review and verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Post payments, adjustments, and write-offs accurately to patient accounts.
• Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding billing inquiries.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

• Experience as a Medical Biller, preferably in a vision or healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of medical billing and coding procedures.
• Familiarity with insurance claim processes and denial management.
• Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a medical billing certification program preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.

Skills

• Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Medisoft, Practice Fusion).
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
