Lifeguard
- Essential Functions:
- Ensures compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures
- Maintains adherence to established safety procedures
- Makes observations and supervises the activities of swimmers
- Enforces pool rules
- Maintains discipline at facility
- Takes preventive safety actions
- Rescues distressed swimmers
- Provides emergency first aid and CPR
- Performs other emergency life saving services as needed
- Maintains swimming pool and facility
- Assists with opening pool facility
- Cleans restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, pool deck, and pool furniture
- Stocks paper goods
- Maintains related documentation
- Provides information and answers questions regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues
- Responds to questions and complaints
- Initiates problem resolution
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be age 15 or older
- Must be able to pass a water/skills test
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Licenses and Certifications:
- The following nationally-recognized certifications are preferred:
- Lifeguard
- CPR
- First Aid
- Physical Abilities:
- Exert moderate, though not constant physical effort
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds)
- Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors
- Ability to communicate orally
- Environmental Factors:
- Exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, hazardous materials, fire, unsafe structures, heights, confined spaces, machinery, electric currents, toxic agents, animal/wildlife attacks, animal/human bites, water hazards, violence, disease, or difficult customers

- Makes observations and supervises the activities of swimmers during classes
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be age 16 or older
- Must be able to pass a water/skills test
- High School Diploma or GED supplemented by one year of experience in lifeguarding is preferred
- Licenses and Certifications:
- The following nationally-recognized certifications are preferred:
- Lifeguard
- Water Safety Instructor
- CPR
- First Aid
