Part-time Licensed Practical Nurse

About the role

This role is available for part-time Licensed Practical Nurses at the Jones and Cabacoy Veterans Ctr in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The position is within the Health and Human Services department, specifically the Department of Veterans Services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to residents under the supervision of an RN and within the scope of LPN practice.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and in accordance with facility policy.
• Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Work in partnership with nursing admin team, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and other team members to deliver comprehensive care.
• Perform resident assessments and promptly report changes in condition to the supervising nurse or provider.
• Document all care, assessments, treatments, and observations in accordance with regulatory and facility standards in the Point Click Care system.
• Assist with care planning and ensure care is delivered according to individualized plans.
• Provide wound care, and other nursing procedures as needed.
• Maintain infection control standards and promote a clean, safe, and respectful environment.
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff while showing patience and empathy.
• Support and guide CNAs to ensure quality resident care and adherence to policies.

Requirements

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of Virginia.
• CPR certification required upon hire or willing to obtain.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Knowledge of long-term care practices, resident rights, and basic nursing procedures.
• Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, turning, and assisting residents with mobility.
• Basic knowledge of personal care practices, infection control, and safety procedures.
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition promptly and clearly.
• Ability to document care activities clearly, accurately, and in compliance with facility standards.

Qualifications

• Previous nursing home, long-term care, or geriatric experience preferred but not required.

Skills

• Proficiency in using Point Click Care system for documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay

The wage range for this position is $34.00-$37.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule

Available shifts include: 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm-7:00am. Work 2 days a week and every other weekend (holidays as needed).

Additional Considerations

• Shift differential applies: 2nd Shift ($3.00), 3rd Shift ($2.00), and additional $1.00 for weekends.
